Learning To Forgive The Cheater

The idea of being in a monogamous relationship is to dedicate yourself to the whole of the person that you are with. However, that is a difficult thing for some people.

There is the whole sub-culture of the people around that are thinking that being with one person is just not the way things should be and that is bothersome.

You have to know the parameters of the relationship that you are in from the very beginning. If you are looking for something that is completely dedicated then you need to make sure that you are making that well known to the person you are with.

There are times when this message does not make it through. However, you have to deal with the presence of mind that things can and will happen.

The people of the world are often lead to a place where things are just not working out. They have a real problem with the idea of being with the same person over and over. No matter what you have to remain strong.

But what if the person you are with cheats? That is a very common issue. There are things that have to be done. If you truly care about this person then forgiveness is in order. To forgive a person that has cheated you have to consider many factors some of which are listed below.

Remorse

The first thing that you need to be looking for from the cheating person is remorse. Is the person truly sorry for what they have done? Or are they just putting up a false front hoping to continue as normal? You need to determine for yourself how remorseful the person is and go from there.

Apology

The way the person apologizes is a big help in this department. If they are just apologizing to stop you from being upset then they are not really sorry for what they did. The apology should be heart felt and strong. They have to be placing the blame where it lies and that is within themselves and not on you.

Everyone Makes Mistakes

The whole of this world and the population contained therein will make mistakes. If the person that has cheated on you has simply made this one mistake then forgiveness is necessary to say the least.

Does this mean that you should continue to forgive them? No, this is a one time deal to start it off with.

Reverse the Table

You need to look at this issue from both sides. What would you do if you were in the other persons shoes? Was the person drunk and not in their right mind? Can you determine that for yourself? Would you be so pure of heart to not make this kind of mistake? Those are all viable questions.

The Blame Game
One thing you should not take part in is the blame game. Never allow yourself to feel as though this is your fault. To say the least you have to know that you are not at fault.

No matter what you might have done, short of cheating yourself, there is no reason why you should be held responsible for this issue.
